The NSW Government is redeveloping Sydney Fish Market in Blackwattle Bay into a world class attraction. The design of the timber roof with a distinctive wave shape and scale pattern invokes the primary purpose of the facility transforming it into an architectural landmark.
The new structure has three above ground levels, a basement parking level with a gross floor area of up to 80,000 square metres. The project includes waterfront commercial, tourist facilities, an accessible seafood auction area and further ancillary business such as retail and multi-functional spaces.
Key project challenges include construction and engineering of the submerged carpark basement, design of the timber roof and development of an efficient structural system working to the bespoke challenges of the site within a marine environment.
enstruct has been engaged to provide structural engineering services.
