Cumberland City Council has received funding from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment as part of the Public Spaces Legacy Program to partly fund the creation of a new civic square in Merrylands. The site is located at 203-213 Merrylands Road and (part) of 28-36 McFarlane Street with a site area of approximately 3,100sqm. The civic square will contain a multi-functional flexible space for community events and cultural displays, grass areas, a water feature and small play space and will be a destination that brings the community together to aid in social and cultural cohesion in one of the most diverse communities in Australia.
enstruct has been engaged for civil, structural and stormwater engineering services including earthworks, stormwater drainage design, stormwater pit and pipe design, new footpaths and road surfacing, erosion and sediment control, onsite detention design, interfaces between existing and proposed surfaces and amendments to existing kerbing and road alignments. Also, enstruct has been engaged to provide structural design advice on the bespoke design of the pedestrian canopy.
