In the spirit of reconciliation, enstruct acknowledges the Traditional Custodians across all of the lands on which we work and their connections to the land, sea and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations peoples today.
enstruct was engaged to undertake structural and civil engineering for the Waterloo Integrated Station Development tender.
The works covered the schematic design for the station and the 7 residential towers above and adjacent to the station.
Major challenges included the design of the 200m long station which was subject to a 28m head of water pressure at its base while also incorporating blast hardening of the structure throughout the station and surrounds.
To encourage ease of pedestrian flow no internal columns were allowed in the station and so deep transfer structure was proposed to clear span entire width of the station while supporting the residential buildings above.
This project will be the kick start to the redevelopment of the entire Waterloo Estate and provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to revitalise this diverse and vibrant community.
