Royal Far West, Manly

Client: Royal Far West
Architect: Architectus
Status: Complete

Royal Far West (RFW) is a non‐government organisation that has been providing health services to children living in rural and remote NSW for more than 85 years. Their facility was built in the 1940's as a polio clinic and no longer suits societies changing needs. The new RFW Centre of Excellence project included a new 6 storey $35 million integrated health and learning space.

The site situated in Manly, is below the water table, requiring a secant pile wall and a hydrostatic basement slab. The proximity to a heritage building required consideration of the existing foundations to reduce settlement. The typical floor is a post-tensioned band beam and slab, with a lightweight steel roof.

enstruct were engaged to undertake both structural and civil engineering services.
