The 20 year master plan for Sydney Airport was approved by government in February 2014. The master plan developed the current airport to allow its current 38million passengers per year capacity to increase to 78 million by 2033. The master plan contained a number of key initiatives including improved ground transport, the ability to cater for increasing numbers of new generation aircraft such as the A380 and the combination of domestic and international operations within the same terminal. Pivotal to the redevelopment of the airport was the retention and upgrading of the aircraft engineering maintenance facilities. enstruct were commissioned by both Qantas and SACL to develop engineering designs and planning to inform their strategy for providing this key piece of airport infrastructure.
