Dexus Australia Square

Client: Dexus
Architect: Woods Bagot
Status: Complete

Dexus have established a new head office at Australia Square, one of the most iconic buildings in the Sydney CBD. The office space occupies two consecutive levels, and from the outset there was a vision to join the two levels with a staircase. Working closely with the fit-out architect and the original building architect (Harry Seidler and Associates) from a heritage perspective, a scheme was presented for the removal of a large section of the floor plate to create a void for the staircase and provide a prominent, light-filled entry to the Dexus office. enstruct undertook a detailed analysis of the existing structure, and designed strengthening elements to allow for the large floor plate void. The staircase was designed to cantilever between the floors, thereby removing the need for support columns at the mid floor landing.
