Since 1835 this precinct has housed Sydney's major brewery, and is now being redeveloped to accommodate some 250,000 square metres of residential and commercial floor space. Frasers Broadway commissioned a team of international and local architects (including Ateliers Jean Nouvel, Foster + Partners & Johnson Pilton Walker) to plan this six hectare site. The site contained 11 building groups of varying heights with as many as four subgrade basements. Key heritage buildings were retained to reflect the site's previous usage. Furthermore, a number of historical in ground services were retained, including a brick ovi form drain which crosses the site from east to west. enstruct were commissioned to assist with site demolition, remediation and bulk excavation stages.
