In the spirit of reconciliation, enstruct acknowledges the Traditional Custodians across all of the lands on which we work and their connections to the land, sea and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations peoples today.
In August 2005 the Commerce Department awarded the rights to design, build and manage the Parramatta Justice Precinct to Multiplex and its bid consortium, including enstruct. A key component of that development was the retention and refurbishment of Jeffery House, a heritage listed building which had served as Parramatta's main hospital since its construction in 1940. The existing structure was load bearing masonry, supporting reinforced concrete floors. The modified planning required the removal of the majority of the internal masonry walls, requiring extensive strengthening of the floor plates within a limited ceiling space. Built during the Second World War, the reinforced concrete slabs were of a poor quality with limited cover to reinforcement, requiring upgrading to meet current codes with respect to fire safety.
