Maintrain Maintenance
United Goninan's facility at Auburn maintains the commuter stock servicing the Sydney metropolitan area. The works at this site include all mechanical and structural maintenance to the fleet. The project included the expansion of their maintenance work shop in the form of a steel portal structure supporting gantry cranes, and founded on a suspended reinforced concrete slab. This slab was designed for the significant jacking loads required to service the fleet. This new building was designed and detailed to match into the existing building structure and its foundations. Throughout the construction process the remaining facility was fully operational, and a construction strategy was developed with the contractor to limit any disruption to both the construction process and the maintenance operations nearby.
