Jarrah House, Little Bay

Client: Landcom
Architect: Peddle Thorp & Walker
Status: Complete

The building's architecture was primarily about the needs and security of its tenants. A low level cluster of buildings, providing a residential, as opposed to an institutional setting, suitable for housing both women and their children. The exposed steelwork is a feature of the building's architecture. Careful consideration was given to the form of the steel elements and their jointing, with a view to delivering elegance and simplicity of fabrication and erection. In what is effectively an aggressive coastal environment, the durability of this steelwork was of great importance. Detailing in concert with appropriate specification of protective coatings will ensure the durability of the steel framework.
