In the spirit of reconciliation, enstruct acknowledges the Traditional Custodians across all of the lands on which we work and their connections to the land, sea and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations peoples today.
The building's architecture was primarily about the needs and security of its tenants. A low level cluster of buildings, providing a residential, as opposed to an institutional setting, suitable for housing both women and their children. The exposed steelwork is a feature of the building's architecture. Careful consideration was given to the form of the steel elements and their jointing, with a view to delivering elegance and simplicity of fabrication and erection. In what is effectively an aggressive coastal environment, the durability of this steelwork was of great importance. Detailing in concert with appropriate specification of protective coatings will ensure the durability of the steel framework.
