In the spirit of reconciliation, enstruct acknowledges the Traditional Custodians across all of the lands on which we work and their connections to the land, sea and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations peoples today.
The first bay of the megabrace is currently being installed on this landmark commercial tower in North Sydney. With its offset core and large open floor plan, the megabrace is required to provide lateral stability to the structure whilst also forming the key architectural feature of the building. Weighing just under 10 tonnes, each section of the megabrace required precision surveying and installation. The megabrace central node provides an example of innovative engineering design. The central node is released allowing lateral movement to relieve forces in the brace caused by column shortening and thermal effects. The megabrace, an elegant exposed steel element, is a key component of the building's architecture. A rigorous first principles approach was adopted to prove the megabrace's capacity in a building fire event.
