The construction of the landmark redevelopment of Northpoint Tower, in the heart of North Sydney, is nearing completion with the structure officially topped out. Nine storeys of new structure have been constructed over six existing storeys of active basement carparking. The use of composite steel and concrete construction has enabled program efficiencies to be realised, as well as reducing the demand on the existing structure, enabling maximum floor space for the client.
The development comprises 187 hotel rooms, as well as retail and restaurant offerings. The 'shard' structure to the south of the tower includes a cantilevered glass façade up to seven metres high, with fabricated, elegantly tapered steel fins, promoting the commanding views to the south of North Sydney from the new rooftop pool and bar.
The expected completion date of the development is in the early months of 2018.
