Terminal 1 Roof Complete
The new 'Bifurcation' roof over the departures area of Sydney International Terminal 1 is now open to the public. The concept and scheme design of this elegant steel-framed gridshell was developed by enstruct and Cox Architecture. The roof was designed so that the terminal could remain fully operational during the construction and it spans 70m over the intersection of two main piers, supported on new external columns. It forms one of the centre-pieces of an extensive redevelopment of the International Terminal.
