In the spirit of reconciliation, enstruct acknowledges the Traditional Custodians across all of the lands on which we work and their connections to the land, sea and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations peoples today.
enstruct was fortunate to be asked to assist in the structural design of the Water's Edge installation by Meng Hng Ho & Mitchell Page for Vivid, Sydney's annual festival that celebrates light music and ideas. The installation's inspiration was the rock formations along Sydney's coastline which highlights the juxtaposition of the urban environment and the ocean with its 'threshold' of sandstone rock shelves
The light sculpture is a 3 by 5 metre diagrid like structure suspended some 6 metres above the ground constructed from illuminated plastic tubes connected by 3D printed joints. The use of 3D printed components as structural elements allowed the complex and intricate joint geometry to be quickly manufactured and constructed.
