Pitt Street Mall Lights Up
Last Thursday night, Lord Mayor Clover Moore, in the midst of a crowded Pitt Street Mall flicked the switch on Sydney's latest piece of public art, a ribbon of some twenty illuminated tubes suspended some fifteen metres above the mall on the finest of cable nets. The opening was attended by all of the key designers and contractors, proudly witnessing the fruits of several years work. Whilst the design is minimalist and simple, its deployment was truly complex, requiring the consent of building owners along the mall to install some dozen fixings to anchor the cables which in turn support the lights.
